MARCH LIT ANALYSIS

For the march lit analysis I will read Dostoyevsky’s greatest contribution to mankind, Crime and Punishment.Crime and Punishment is a book that might be on the AP Exam, and it has so many themes that it would be hard to find an AP essay prompt that can not be answered using Crime and Punishmant.

 Chapter 1:

So far the main character is a young man named Raskilnokov, who lives in an apartment and he has not paid his rent to the landlady in a long time. Being a poor guy, Raskilnokov usually goes to a pawnshop, to trade personal items for money. Raskilnokov likes calling himself a student, and he wears a, “German hat.”

So far I have discovered that the name of the pawnshop lady is Alena Ivanovna, and she lives with her sister whose name is Lizaveta.

Raskilnokov actually thinks that Alena Ivanova is a disgusting “creature” pg. 4

At the shop, after haggling over the prices, Raskilnokov exchanges an “old flat silver watch”, for “ a ruble and a half” pg 5.
